We are so excited to announce that we’re releasing our blog here on Medium. We had many meetings and thought a lot before taking this huge step 🤔… No, just kidding, it was a single meeting, and literally everyone voted for this.
But who are we? and why did we release a blog? Let’s take off!
Who are we?
We are a software company specializing in enterprise solutions. We offer Kites ERP, the first SaaS ERP for import and distribution for SMEs in Egypt. Our mission is to help SMEs in Egypt — which are 60% of the private sector — in their digital transformation journey to establish viability online and to meet their ever-evolving needs.
We decided to start covering the companies in the import and distribution sector. This is to capitalize on our founders’ experience with companies in this sector. Where, in addition to their solid background in the field of software development, they also have a deep experience with the import and distribution business due to their exposure to their family import and export business that had been in the market since the the 80s.
At Kites Software, we are blessed to have a team full of potential that strives for technical excellence. They share a belief that what is good enough for today, is not good enough for tomorrow. And thus they give continuous attention to technical excellence, good design, and clean code. They value collaboration; when someone needs a hand, every single person on the team is more than welcome to do whatever is possible to help them out.
Why did we release a blog?
Since we build and keep enhancing a complex SaaS ERP solution, it’s normal to face lots of interesting challenges and problems in every stage of our SDLC. They might be relevant to:
- Gathering and handling business requirements.
- Trading off and picking the most fit architectural solutions.
- Planning and executing large refactorings.
- Enhancing our development process.
- Testing and reducing the number of defects.
- Picking the right tooling to improve agility.
- Managing the infrastructure and achieving automation.
- Documenting our knowledge to reduce bottlenecks.
And many more… Some of the problems have common solutions, and others do not, and since we’re a super amazing creative team that always seeks technical excellence 😎, we find solutions!
With great solutions comes great responsibility. — 🕷
We decided to share our knowledge and experience by writing about the different problems we face daily at Kites and how we manage to tackle them. We highly believe there is someone out there, sitting on their laptop, trying very hard not to break it, while they are suffering from a problem that we might have already tackled. Consider it our humble way of paying back to the community, we save your laptop! 😆
